Our standard hog ring, and the one most trap and cage builders reach for. Marine-grade 304 stainless holds up in wet, salty, and outdoor conditions without rusting, which is why it's the right ring for gear that lives in the water — lobster and crab traps, oyster cages and bags, bungee terminations, predator netting. Fourteen-gauge wire gives you a stronger crimp and more holding power than a 15G ring, at the cost of a little more hand effort to close. The blunt tip closes clean without tearing mesh or cutting your hands.
Set them with hand pliers for repairs and small runs, or load a pneumatic hog ring gun for high-volume production. Add our blue-handled stainless hog ring pliers below — they work rings from 3/8″ through 1″.
14G or 15G — which one? Reach for 14-gauge on wire mesh, trap and cage assembly, heavier netting, and anywhere the joint carries load. Step down to 15-gauge for lighter fabrics, finer mesh, and high-count production runs where you want easier closing and more rings to the pound.

Recreational Aquaculture
Our recreational gear is made from the same commercial-grade materials but is designed for ease of use without specialized equipment.
Grow-out bags come pre-assembled—simply attach floats and add oysters.
For best results, choose oyster seed that is at least 1.5 times larger than the mesh size.
For example, a 14 mm bag should be used with oysters that are at least 21 mm.

We stock several standard traps (including seabass, scup, eel, green crab, and blue crab). For custom trap orders, we typically require a minimum of 25 units.
